iPhone unlocking claims

A few claims of a successful iPhone sim unlock – most notably from George Hotz and iphonesimfree – have been made over the last couple of days.

This is not the first time full unlocking of the iPhone has been claimed since it was launched at the end of June. Rest assured that I'm looking into how true and feasible these claims are and that I'll be posting my conclusions here in this blog.

What a waste of time. Apple is the worst company on the face of the planet with it's proprietary information that virtually makes their products crap to use! I wouldn't waste my time! And I wouldn't give them a dime!

Verizon is the only carrier that works where i live. If i could use iPhone on verizon, i would get one quick.

Legal firms do not usually work after hours (a 3am call in Ireland would be 7pm in California). Also, they would not call someone at 3am nor would they use the phone to threaten legal action. They would have sent documents via fedex or some other courier. It also seems stupid that this unlocking service has nothing more than a cell phone to take a video with. I think the whole thing is fake. They don't have unlocking software. They may hope to get it but now are only using lies in an attempt to delay.

Please, I need an unlock-software!
Why do they sell the iPhone in Germany only with T-Mobile? :(

I wish I could get tmobile here. I don't want ATT they are absolutely terrible where I live and I would buy an iPhone if they were unlocked or not on ATT.

Personally I think locking them was a terrible idea by apple and shows why they don't have a true understanding of the cell phone industry.

i go to the same school with George Hotz. hes cruising around in a brand new orange 350z convertible he got in return for unlocking three iphones. from what i understand, he has a job offer from the same company that gave him the car.

he didnt do a software unlock, it involved soldering. but it has been unlocked.
